Does anybody know what happened to Martin Shaw's side-kick in The Professionals?

I wasn't in the country around the time this series was first screened, but although Martin is alive and kicking (mmmmm), I've not seen his partner in The Professionals on anything recently. Can anybody tell me what happened to him?
